PRESCHOOL PREP
Preparation creates success…
Join our young scholars (ages 3-5) each week as we learn all of the skills necessary to be with early literacy and numeracy. At I Heart Learning, our Preschool Prep is led by certified teachers that are specifically trained on how to work with our earliest learners. Instruction will include an initial skills assessment and customized lessons that address phonological awareness, handwriting, motor skills, letter knowledge skills, and identification of numbers, colors, and shapes. Each student will participate in periodic progress monitoring assessments to determine the student’s level of mastery of concepts taught. This is a great supplement to a daycare or a mother’s day out program to ensure your child is mastering the skills appropriate for their age.

WHAT IS THE ImPORTANCE IN STARTING “EARLY”?
EARLY LITERACY: A child's level of phonemic awareness on entering school is widely held to be the strongest single determinant of the success that she or he will experience in learning to read — or, conversely, the likelihood that she or he will fail (Adams, 1990; Stanovich, 1986). In fact, research clearly shows that phonemic awareness can be developed through instruction, and, furthermore, that doing so significantly accelerates children's subsequent reading and writing achievement (Ball & Blachman, 1991, et. al)
EARLY NUMERACY: Learning to count, identify numbers, and compare and manipulate quantities are key early numeracy skills. These are powerful predictors of school-age mathematical learning and performance. General neurocognitive abilities such as working memory and language, are also important for the development of early numeracy (Ragubar & Barnes, 2016).
