Michelle Roy, M.Ed., CALT, LDT

OWNER /FOUNDER

Michelle is a lifelong lover of reading education, with 10 years of Elementary Education classroom experience. She graduated from Texas A&M with a degree in Early Childhood Education. After years of teaching students to fall in love with reading in Highland Park ISD, she couldn’t ignore the tugging at her heart to do more for the children who needed more. Michelle got her Masters of Education in Reading & Writing from SMU and is a licensed Dyslexia Therapist (LDT), Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT) and a Reading Specialist (K-12). For Michelle, teaching isn’t just about imparting knowledge—it’s about touching hearts. Guided by this belief, she approaches each student with genuine care and compassion. Michelle’s home in Dallas, TX, is filled with love, laughter, and the pitter-patter of tiny feet belonging to her adorable baby girl, Addison, her handsome baby boy, Jackson, and their beloved fur-baby, Bo. When she’s not busy teaching, Michelle loves embarking on spontaneous road trips and discovering the wonders of the world around us.

Ask Michelle about her favorite book, and she’ll enthusiastically share “Love You Forever” by Robert Munsch. It’s a tale that never fails to tug at the heartstrings and bring on the waterworks, reminding her of the incredible power words hold.

Diana Glass, M.Ed., C-SLDS

CURRICULUM & DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST

Meet Diana, a Texan at heart with a worldly upbringing, courtesy of her Air Force family background. Armed with a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Texas A&M University and a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction in Literacy from the University of Texas at Arlington, Diana is passionate about teaching reading. She’s also ESL certified and a Certified Structured Literacy Dyslexia Specialist. Starting as a first-grade teacher, Diana later became an Instructional Coach for kindergarten through 2nd-grade teachers in Mesquite ISD before finding her niche at I Heart Learning as a Curriculum and Instruction Development Specialist and Dyslexia specialist. Outside of work, she’s a devoted mom to her two daughters and their fur-baby, Maggie. Diana enjoys teaching Pilates and unwinding with movie nights. Her favorite book, “Ruby the Copycat” by Peggy Rathman, inspires Diana to embrace authenticity. Motivated by her love for reading and her experiences as the “new kid,” she’s also ventured into writing her own children’s book, “Benny’s Moving Buddy,” to comfort relocating children. With endless enthusiasm and empathy, Diana spreads the joy of learning in both her professional and creative pursuits

Our Terrific Teachers

From a young age, Brooke knew she was destined to be a teacher. She fondly recalls reading Magic Tree House stories to her stuffed animals and giving grammar lessons to her Barbie dolls—teaching was always in her heart. Brooke turned that childhood dream into reality by earning her Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas State University.

Returning to her hometown of Plano, Brooke now inspires young minds as a 5th grade teacher. With five years of experience in the district, she has taught first, second, and fifth grade, developing a passion for helping students transform reading from a task into a true love of learning. She lives by the words of Dr. Seuss: “The more you read, the more you will know. The more you learn, the more places you’ll go!”

ms. BROOKE

Dani is a dedicated educator whose mission is to help every student learn, grow at their own pace, and develop confidence in themselves. Born and raised in Monterrey, Mexico, Dani moved to Dallas in 2021, where she earned her teacher certification in Core Subjects with Science of Teaching Reading, along with a Bilingual Education Supplemental certification (Spanish, Grades EC-6).

She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Educational Sciences from the University of Monterrey and brings nearly seven years of classroom experience to her role. Throughout her career, Dani has served as a Teacher’s Assistant, Inclusion Assistant, and Elementary Bilingual Teacher—always fostering an environment where students feel valued and supported.

Outside the classroom, Dani loves traveling and exploring the outdoors with her husband, Beto, as well as spending quality time with family and friends. She enjoys reading, dancing, walking, yoga, and pilates. One of her favorite books to share with students is We’re All Wonders by R.J. Palacio, a story close to her heart that celebrates uniqueness, friendship, inclusion, and belonging.

ms. Dani

Katie has always had a love for teaching reading and has fond memories of being read to as a child. Some of her favorite books are by beloved children’s author Mo Willems. She is passionate about creating a fun, nurturing learning environment where students can develop a lifelong love of reading.

Originally from Virginia and now a proud Texas resident, Katie holds a B.S. in Elementary Education and Special Education from Baylor University. She is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Early Literacy at Southern Methodist University with plans to become a Reading Specialist.

Katie has three years of teaching experience, including two years in Coppell Independent School District teaching Kindergarten and one year teaching First Grade in Virginia.

Outside of the classroom, Katie enjoys walks on the Katy Trail, cooking, painting, and visiting her family back home in Virginia.

Sarah works as the office administrator at I Heart Learning and is passionate about helping every student succeed in whatever they set their mind to. With over five years of experience in education, she brings patience, encouragement, and dedication to her work with students. You might see her during pick-up or drop-off!

Born in Dallas, Sarah earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Dallas Baptist University. She has received training as a reading specialist and is currently working toward full certification with I Heart Learning Academy. For the past two years, she has focused on supporting students with reading difficulties, helping them build confidence and achieve success.

Outside of work, Sarah enjoys spending time outdoors with her family—playing badminton or caring for her chickens. She also loves watching good movies and making matcha to enjoy with homemade popcorn. Her favorite quote, “We are what we believe we are” by C.S. Lewis, reflects her philosophy of encouraging others to always believe in themselves.

Ms. Sarah

Originally from New York, Joy brings a wealth of experience and a deep passion for education to her classroom. She holds a B.S. in Education and Psychology from Smith College and a Master’s in Education as a Reading Specialist from Columbia University Teachers College.

Throughout her career, Joy has had the privilege of working with students and teachers across diverse K-12 settings. She spent five years inspiring young learners as a Kindergarten and First Grade teacher, and later supported middle and high school students as a Reading Specialist. Joy discovered her love for teaching reading during her student teaching days and has been dedicated ever since to helping students develop a lifelong love of reading—just as she did.

Joy is committed to creating academically engaging experiences in a classroom environment that nurtures creativity, curiosity, and kindness. Outside of teaching, she enjoys spending quality time with her husband, exploring Dallas’ vibrant restaurant scene, and staying active on the tennis court.

mS. JOY

Katherine von Rosenberg holds a bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Texas Woman’s University and a graduate degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a specialization in Play Therapy from the University of North Texas.

A Fort Worth native, Katherine now calls Richardson home, where she lives with her husband and their three beloved dogs. Her love for working with children began in high school as a nanny and classroom volunteer, and has since grown into a fulfilling career. With experience in preschool settings, tutoring students of all ages, and supporting at-risk youth and students with diverse abilities, Katherine brings a wealth of compassion, patience, and dedication to every learning environment.

Katherine believes that every child deserves a teacher who is passionate, patient, and understanding—values she brings to her work each day. When she’s not in the classroom, you’ll find her enjoying a good book, cooking, watching movies, or adventuring outdoors with her dog

ms. Katherine

Giselle is a Charlotte Mason homeschool educator with four years of experience and a deep belief that true education nurtures a lifelong love of learning. Her passion for teaching began in high school and grew through her years as a live-in nanny, Sunday school volunteer, and later as a Special Education Paraprofessional in New York City, where she worked for six years before moving to Arlington, Texas in 2016.

Originally from Brazil, Giselle comes from a family of educators—her mother was a teacher, and two of her aunts founded their own schools. She holds a New York State Teaching Assistant Certificate and is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in English Language & Literature from Mercy University.

At home, Giselle and her husband Bruno are raising three lively children, along with a tabby cat and a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. When she’s not homeschooling, she enjoys the Dallas Symphony, podcasts, hiking with her Wild & Free group, and thrifting. Every Lent, her family rereads The Chronicles of Narnia, and she’s currently counting the days until the next Unselected Journals of Emma M. Lion book is released.

Ms. Giselle

A proud 5th-generation Texan, Sharilyn brings over 29 years of dedicated experience in Texas Public Schools before retiring in 2019. She holds a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration (1992) and a Bachelor’s Degree in Education (1990) from the University of North Texas in Denton. Sharilyn’s extensive certifications include Mid-Management Administrator (PK-12), Elementary Reading and Self-Contained (1-8), Early Childhood Education (PK-K), Special Education (PK-12), and ESL (PK-12). She is also trained in the Dyslexia Intervention Program and Take Flight.

Throughout her career, Sharilyn has worn many hats—serving as a Dyslexia Teacher, Reading Interventionist, Master Teacher, and classroom teacher across multiple districts, including Mount Vernon ISD, Sulphur Springs ISD, and Mesquite ISD. Her passion lies in helping students discover their potential and fostering a love of learning in those who need it most. She considers it a true privilege to be part of each child’s educational journey.

Sharilyn is married to her high school sweetheart, Paul, who is also a teacher, and they have two adult children, Hank and Hayley. Outside of education, she enjoys playing keyboard in a band, volunteering in her community, and traveling. One of her favorite books is Chrysanthemum by Kevin Henkes, as it reminds her of embracing the uniqueness of her own name—something she learned from an inspiring teacher during her school days.

Ms. SHARILYN

Originally from Fort Worth, Texas, Alexis has always enjoyed working with children. She decided to continue her passion by earning a degree in Early Childhood Special Education from The University of Alabama—Roll Tide! After graduating, she returned to her Texas roots by moving to Dallas.

Alexis has extensive experience teaching children from kindergarten through third grade, with one of her favorite internships spent in a pre-kindergarten classroom. She is now entering her first year of teaching Pre-K in HPISD. Growing up as a struggling reader, Alexis knows the value of making reading engaging and enjoyable. With IHL’s teaching strategies, she believes in building strong relationships with her students, discovering their unique interests, and fostering a love for reading. She is passionate about supporting and inspiring all children to become confident readers and the best versions of themselves.

When she’s not teaching, Alexis enjoys spending time with her family and friends, playing with her puppy, going to workout classes, and exploring Dallas. For Alexis, teaching is all about connection, encouragement, and creating a joyful learning environment!

Ms. Alexis

Ashley holds a Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and a Master’s degree in Reading from Stephen F. Austin State University. In 2020, she further advanced her expertise by becoming a Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT) through SMU. With a deep passion for teaching reading, Ashley has dedicated her career to helping young learners thrive.

Her diverse experience includes teaching fourth grade, first grade, and kindergarten, serving as a dyslexia therapist, and most recently, working as a K-2 Literacy Interventionist for Richardson ISD. Ashley loves bringing stories to life in the classroom—Caps for Sale by Esphyr Slobodkina, a favorite from her childhood, remains one of her go-to books to share with students.

When she’s not inspiring a love of reading, Ashley enjoys relaxing with Netflix, shopping, and traveling. She cherishes time with her family—her parents, Susan and David, and visiting her older sister, Elizabeth, in Lexington, KY. A true book lover, Ashley is currently rereading the Harry Potter series, aiming to enjoy one book each month.

Carolina is a fun, caring educator from Venezuela with a deep commitment to helping others grow and thrive. She earned her degree in Psychology in her home country, where she dedicated her time to volunteering in vulnerable communities and working for a Non-Governmental Organization focused on social impact programs.

During her internships in schools, Carolina discovered her true passion—working with children. Inspired by their curiosity and creativity, she strives to create a supportive environment where every child feels encouraged to explore, learn, and shine.

Carolina’s love for reading began by watching her mother immerse herself in stories, especially the mysteries of Agatha Christie. Outside the classroom, she enjoys practicing yoga, watching movies, and exploring Dallas with her husband, Sergio, and their playful dog, Luna.

ms. Carolina

Originally from Maryland, Elaine relocated to Plano, Texas in August to embrace new opportunities and continue her journey of personal and professional growth. For over a decade, she worked in the human health field as a case manager, where she discovered her passion for teaching and supporting others. This calling led her to roles such as working with children with dyslexia through I Heart Learning and later exploring a new path in aviation as an FAA repair technician.

Elaine is currently balancing full-time work while pursuing college courses to expand her skills—particularly in technology and programming. She is deeply family-oriented and values meaningful connections, often taking the lead in organizing team events and offering support to those around her. Her warm, dependable nature makes her a positive presence in every space she’s part of.

In her free time, Elaine enjoys spending time with animals, exploring the outdoors, learning new things, and seeking ways to make a difference in the lives of others. Her curiosity, compassion, and commitment to lifelong learning continue to guide her in and out of the classroom.

ms. Elaine

Lisa brings a unique blend of creativity and life experience to the classroom. Before becoming a teacher, she built a successful career as a newspaper journalist and public relations consultant. Her love for education began while volunteering at local schools and teaching with organizations like Big Thought, Junior Players, and Writer’s Garret. She also taught Sunday school to African refugee children and participated in Leadership DISD as a Principal-for-the-Day.

After earning her Alternative Teaching Certification, Lisa joined Raul Quintanilla Middle School in her Oak Cliff neighborhood. Over ten years, she taught English and later served as an ELL teacher and reading specialist. Passionate about student engagement, she also launched the school’s UIL Academic Team and led a variety of after-school clubs—from piano and gardening to poetry and chess—bringing enrichment and creativity to her campus.

Lisa is certified in English (EC–8), TEFL, ESL, Gifted and Talented, and Special Education. She holds a BFA in Journalism, a BA in Foreign Languages, and an MLA in Liberal Arts from SMU. A lifelong fan of Winnie the Pooh, Lisa enjoys attending theater, writing plays, and spending time in her cozy yellow house with her husband, two dogs, and a cat.

ms. Lisa

Originally from Texas, Kaitlyn is a dedicated educator who brings both professional expertise and personal experience to her work with students. A proud graduate of Baylor University, she earned her degree in All-Level Special Education and has a deep passion for supporting learners with reading differences—shaped in part by her own journey as a student with dyslexia.

Kaitlyn’s interest in the Science of Reading was sparked during her time at Baylor and further developed through specialized training in the dyslexia intervention program Reading by Design. As a Clinical Teacher, she gained valuable hands-on experience delivering targeted interventions, deepening her commitment to helping every student unlock the power of reading.

This school year, Kaitlyn will begin an exciting new role as a Dyslexia Specialist in Denison ISD. She’s also thrilled to join I Heart Learning Academy, where she looks forward to empowering students and nurturing their confidence. Outside of the classroom, Kaitlyn enjoys spending time with family and staying connected to her community. Teaching, for Kaitlyn, is more than a profession—it’s a personal mission to help students thrive.

ms. Kaitlyn

Originally from Texas, Angie is a passionate educator with over ten years of teaching experience in Kindergarten through 5th grade. Her journey has taken her to classrooms in both Texas and Mexico, where she’s built strong connections with students from diverse backgrounds. Angie is fluent in both English and Spanish and brings a bilingual perspective that enriches her teaching.

She holds a B.A. in Psychology with a focus on child development and a Master’s in Education specializing in Early Literacy. Angie is certified in EC-6 Core Subjects with a Bilingual Supplement and has received training in the Science of Reading, Personalized Learning, and Responsive Classroom strategies. She loves incorporating creative, multisensory techniques to make learning engaging and meaningful for every student.

Outside the classroom, Angie enjoys reading, baking, and playing music. Her favorite moments often include a good book, a cozy corner, and the joy of storytelling—elements she regularly brings into her lessons. For Angie, teaching is all about helping kids discover that they can do hard things and celebrating their growth every step of the way.
