Christi Hays was born in Arlington and earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from Baylor University, where she studied Early Childhood Education. She began her teaching career in 1996 as an ESL-certified Pre-K teacher and later taught kindergarten in the Dallas area. After marrying her husband, Brian, in 1998, the couple moved to Austin, where Christi continued teaching in both public and private schools.
